Hey everyone,

Sorry updates have been few and far between the last little while, but I have been in between collecting daughters, move-outs, and flights to the west coast – not to mention a full workout schedule, and articles to write!

I am here in Portland with my family on a summer vacation for the next week. Rachel has an itinerary of touring Portland planned! Today we are sticking within the city, but tomorrow we are driving out to the coast. I have been looking forward to seeing the shore for months now and the weather is perfect. I am so happy to be relaxing with the family. We should all take a few days to appreciate those we love with some good food, and outdoor activity!

Happy Summer everyone!

And Another Graduation Day!!

Kelsey-Lynn's graduation ceremonies are never ending this year!! Not that I mind. She had her ballet school graduation a few weeks ago, prom #1 just after that, prom #2 last weekend, and now high school graduation! We will be driving to Belleville yet again today to celebrate one last time. I'm excited for my little one. She's been away at ballet school since she was 12 and only had 1 month off each year in the summer. She'll be home with me for 2 WHOLE MONTHS this summer before heading off to university in the fall. Is this when you start to feel old?? When all of your kids move out of the house? Sigh. Better keep on those weights! And thank goodness Chelsea will be with us for a few more years before going off to school. It would be a very quiet house without her. I need to hear Hannah Montana and High School Musical blasting through the house to keep me a little in touch with the times. Enough of the rant!

Have a wonderful Thursday.

I will post pics from the event soon!

The Big Prom Night!

My daughter’s prom has come and gone! The first part of the day was spent helping Kelsey and her fellow prom committee members run around all as they decorated their prom venue. They did a beautiful job!

After all of the prep was over, the girls scurried up to their rooms to get themselves ready. Hair, make-up and outfits had to be ready for their big night! After what seemed like hours of shoe-changes and last minute decisions about their hair, Kelsey and her friend Sam were ready. They were both absolutely gorgeous.

The limos arrived at 5 pm to take the girls to their pre-party for photos. All the parents were there with their cameras capturing this wonderful moment. After the photos I left my baby to enjoy her night of dancing and prom festivities. It was exciting and sad to see my little girl go off to her prom. Why do they have to grow up so fast?

It was such a joy to spend time with my daughter on such a special day in her life. She looked beautiful and happy. I know there are many more milestones to come, and I hope to be there for as many as I can!

What Did You Think?

How was Tosca: Flexing at 49??

I'd love to hear your reviews!!

Happy Father's Day!!!

Happy Father's Day to all of our Clean Eating dads out there!!

My dad was a huge influence in my life and I miss him dearly, especially on this day. He was a huge reminder to me of how important it is to take care of yourself. He died of a heart attack way too young, and I don't want to follow in his footsteps.

While I will be thinking of him all day long, I will also be celebrating with my husband and his children. We are going for a family brunch before heading home to do some much needed outdoor housework... power washer here I come! My girls are celebrating with their dad today.

What are you up to?

Whether it's brunching, lunching, BBQing, hiking, biking, swimming, watching a game, bowling, lounging etc etc etc do your best to keep your Eating Clean habits in mind... I know it's a celebratory day, so a beer or 2 might be in order :-).

If you're stuck for ideas on what to make be sure to check out the Grilling Guide in the NEW Eat-Clean Diet for Men... burgers, pork satay, bass, salmon and chicken all done just right! If you try out any recipes from the book I want to hear about it.

Happy Father's Day to you and yours!!!

Kelsey's Prom!!!

I drove to Belleville yesterday to help my little ballerina get ready for prom. We're in Prince Edward County at Waring House dodging rain clouds!!! Hopefully they stay away in time for pictures.

Kelsey-Lynn & her friend Sam are on the prom committee and boy are they the creative masterminds!! I think these girls have a career in party planning ahead of them. The girls are running around in the hotel getting all the last minute details organized before they get ready for prom. Of course, Sam's mom and my friend, Ann, and I have been dispatched to do errands, too!

The limo comes at 5pm this evening so I hope we are all ready in time! I will take lots of pictures to show you. It's such a fun day. I am loving the mother/daughter time. I certainly don't take this for granted.

eTalk Tonight!!

Tonight eTalk (CTV) will be airing another Eat-Clean Diet segment, which includes training tips. It will be airing at 7pm EST and throughout the weekend. Catch it if you can!

Tuesday's Book Talk

Tuesday's book talk was great! The topic was, of course, the Eat-Clean Diet for Men. We had a great turnout... about 40 people. The store, McNally Robinson, is a beautiful independent book store with homey feeling in outdoor shopping area in the Shops at Don Mills. It's a great concept for Toronto shopping. I'm even thinking my daughter should check out some places to live there when she moves back to Toronto. Anyway, back to the event...

I had dinner at Prairie Ink (the adjoining restaurant) with my family and it was great. I actually didn't realize I had to do a talk at first. Oops! My husband and I joined forces and did a spontaneous talk for about an hour. I talked mainly about diet, while Bob talked about training. A crazy variety of people showed up, which is so encouraging. It just shows how versatile this way of life is. I also met an incredible success story! A gentleman who went from 300 pounds to a totally in shape by Eating Clean! Totally amazing. We got lots of great commentary, lots of suggestions, and a great night all around!

Thanks for coming out!

Eating Clean Around the World

I've been getting TONS of emails lately regarding Eating Clean around the globe.

Since I live in Canada, I am most familiar with North American products. Even some of the Canadian products I recommend (Olivina) isn't available in the US.

I'm putting a call out to my international cohorts to share their tips for their favorite Eating Clean foods specific to your area.

Can't wait to read your answers!!

Busy Day & Book Signing

Hey folks,

Busy day today at the ranch! We're prepping for tomorrow's photo shoot, which means lots of cooking, organizing, clothing selecting, training, dish washing, etc etc. We are working away like busy bees over here.

As an update, my daughter is doing just fine post car accident on Friday. It was a scary day for us here. A transport trailer blew a tire, swerved, and hit her. We were all in shock for most of the day because of what COULD have happened. The car is pretty messed, but I am so happy Kiersten is not. Thank you so much for your support through that nasty ordeal!

This evening I will be doing a book signing at McNally Robinson in the Shops at Don Mills (1090 Don Mills Road) in Toronto at 8pm. If you can make it out I would love to meet you and hear your story.

Come be a book worm with me like my niece and nephew.

Clean eating is a way of life... a healthy way of life!!

I'm always listening,
Tosca

FYI - Tosca: Flexing at 49

Good Sunday Morning Clean Eaters,

I hope some you were able to catch Episode 2 of Tosca: Flexing at 49 last night. We made a little BBQ of it at my place last night with my friend, Franca and her kids. You know I love reviews so let me know what you thought. Read below for a little FYI regarding the show...

As you all know my reality TV Series has finally been launched on Canadian national television. It is being aired on the VIVA Network for the next 8 weeks, every Saturday evening at 7pm and runs for one half hour. The show itself is owned and produced by “Up Front Entertainment” a Canadian television production company. Thus, if you live in the United States you will not be able to view the series as yet. Furthermore, it will not be posted on You Tube, or on any social media site regulated by Robert Kennedy Publishing or myself and the Eat-Clean Team until Up Front Entertainment has sold it. In order to see the show, if you do not have access to it in your country, city or town you must e-mail Up Front Entertainment at we.want.tosca@upfront.ca, directly and request to see Tosca: Flexing at 49.

I want to clarify that “Up Front” is selling a show and a specific image. TV must not be taken literally, as it may distort truths, or appear distasteful at times. For the most part the series is in good taste and fairly represents my family, my career and myself as these were stipulations I requested before filming began. I would not have agreed to the contract terms if I did not believe that it would be in the best interest of my family or myself. However it is necessary for entertainment value to portray specific scenes in enhanced or edited fashion.

I appreciate your opinion and commentary on any or all episodes in the series. It is so important to hear honest and respectful commentary, positive or negative. However please do keep in mind that we are dealing with television and we must take it with a grain of salt. Enjoy the show for the general story, the characters and for what it will teach you. I hope that when you watch it you come away feeling motivated to continue on your Eat Clean journey and encouraged to train hard, play hard and work hard for yourself, family and friends.

Remember,
I am always listening,
Sincerely,
Tosca Reno

Fun Article from the National Post

Had a great lunch with my husband and the National Post, a national Canadian newspaper. Read on....

http://network.nationalpost.com/np/blogs/toronto/archive/2009/06/12/on-the-town-tosca-reno.aspx

Great Question

A fellow Clean Eater has asked a great question about the recipes in The Eat-Clean Diet for Men. My answer applies to all of the books in the Eat-Clean Diet series:

I recently bought your new book, and my boyfriend and I are chomping at the bit to try the recipes.

This may seem like a stupid question, but - is it okay for women who are trying to eat clean and lose weight to eat the meals in that book? Some of them look pretty calorie-laden, which is okay for my boyfriend, who loses 10 pounds every time he scratches his stomach, but I don't want to undo all my hard work (I've lost 20 pounds since January).

The dishes sure look great...and anything I can do to wean my boyfriend off the usual meat and potatoes is really appealing, but not if it means having to cook 2 meals to maintain my own progress.

Thanks!

While the Eat-Clean Diet for Men is geared towards male health issues more than female, the foods included in the book are absolutely beneficial for both sexes. The recipes include ingredients beneficial to men and women. Go ahead and enjoy the recipes from the book, but pare down the portion sizes to fit your body. Remember the portion size guidelines from the original Eat-Clean Diet? Go back and check out that section of the book to refresh your memory of you don't. This is much easier and much more accurate than calorie counting. Also, remember to stick to the guidelines of lean protein and complex carbs from veggies, fruits, and whole grains at each meal!

Banana Roll Ups, kiwis, smoothies, oranges, melon, agave, flax, etc... all my faves!!

Wrap Party Pics

Seems you all really enjoyed the 1st episode of Tosca: Flexing at 49. Thanks for all of your feedback We had a lot of fun at the wrap party on Saturday after watching the 1st episode. Like I said, it was pretty emotional for me because it's like seeing your life flash before your eyes all over again. Competing is hard work, and it was a brutal reminder of it! I'm glad you all got an inside look into my life... I'm a little silly and a little crazy... lol! I don't have the rights to post the episode on YouTube, nor would I even know how to do that. I will keep you posted if anything changes regarding US viewing opportunities. Also, you can email we.want.tosca@upfront.ca to speed the process along. Enjoy the pics!!

Here I am with Janice and Kelly from the show.

My friend, Joanne, who is also in the show, joined us at the event, too.

Here's the group: Bob, Janice, Kelly & Craig.

Do you recognize this little face?? Cute little Hannah and her missing tooth.

Tosca: Flexing at 49 Begins in 2 Days!

It's been a lot of work and little bit of play (just kidding... lots of fun!) to get to this point. Tosca: Flexing at 49 debuts on Saturday at 7pm on VIVA.

Thanks to TV Guide Canada who just selected the show as the Editor's Pick! Read the review here.

I wish it was airing in the US as I feel bad my fans there will be left out. Perhaps you can make a Canadian acquaintance on my forum and get them to tape it (is that what you do these days?) for you OR better yet you can email:

we.want.tosca@upfront.ca

What a funny email!

We're having a wrap party on Saturday to celebrate. I'm definitely looking forward to it!!

Now... off to a few more interviews. It's been a BUSY day at work!

Did You Know??

Check out this fun video below. It's educational, too. I had no idea George Bush had read so many books. What's great about this story is that people are reading. It's so hard to find time to do it, but it's so important to keep our minds active especially as we age. And it's a cheap form of entertainment, which is very important in today's economic climate. I like the anecdote about reading while waiting for people... you'll hear it in the video below...

Reading Habits of Influential People... Obama, Oprah, etc.

Happy Wednesday!

BEA Pics

The Book Expo of America was a whirlwind this past weekend. New York City certainly wasn't a joy ride. We spent the weekend working very hard! Our green T-shirts definitely caught the eyes of lots of expo visitors, but our green bags were the big hit. We will be selling them on the website soon. Aside from being reusable, the bags also have pockets in the side for your grocery list (an eat-clean grocery list, that is). My feet are still sore from wearing heels most of the weekend so I was happy to put on my Birkenstock's at home. No makeup, no blowdrying and lots of rest is in order! I was so happy to get home to my own bed and my own food. I drank lots of hot water with lemons yesterday, had some delicious food, and worked out extra hard! Here are a couple of pics from the weekend...

2 TV Links!!!

Good Tuesday Morning Bloggers...

Here is a link to the Fox & Friends appearance I did on Sunday. Once again, I am discussing libido boosting foods for men!

Here is a link from E! Canada that aired last week. This time I am discussing fitness tips for women in their 40s +... however, we all know this applies to everyone. Enjoy!

I will definitely be posting more BEA pictures later, but in the meantime if you are on Facebook check out my page for some great shots.
