Bailey Kennedy
Today is a sad and rough day in our household. For the past few days we have known that our beloved golden retriever, Bailey (who has been in numerous pics with me and the family... see some below) must be put down today. He has a terrible form of necrotizing cancer which is causing him to suffer greatly. His usually sprightly self has been quiet and withdrawn the last few days. This horrible cancer will end his life, though we would prefer not to have to do it at all. The humane thing to do in our family's opinion is to lift him out of his misery and remember him as the joyous and intelligent creature he was. We will miss his door-opening antics, his cute little curly sashay in his back end, his gorgeous face and eyes, and his constant company. His little friend Davidson will also miss his constant companion. They were like "me and my shadow". Bailey has had 13 lovely years with the our family and his memory will live on forever.
With Love,
Tosca

So sorry to hear that.
Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss.
Sorry to hear about your doggie. I know the feeling all too well, having to do the same thing the week before Christmas for the same reasons. We had our beloved dog for 13 years as well and we miss him dearly. Your Bailey is now playing with my doggie in Heaven!
Tosca and family....I am so sorry! Sending you and your's healing blessings. Bailey won't be suffering anymore, which is a good thing!
Luv and hugs!
so sorry to hear this! my 13 year old black lab was put down 2 months ago due to cancer on his spine :( this hits home because his best friend was our golden retriever who is still very sad these days. i hope you and your family find comfort in the great memories you have.
My heart felt condolances to you!
I'm sorry to hear this....like so many previous posts, we too lost our furry best friend...also to cancer. He was a German Shepard/ Husky mix, only 9 years old...he was a beautiful dog.
sorry for your familys loss...
My thoughts are with you and your family Tosca. We too had to put down our 12 yr old Husky a few years ago, it was the hardest thing to do.
We now have a gorgeous golden who is 3 1/2 and know that someday we will have to go through it again. You did the humane thing, but it hurts nonetheless.
I'm sincerely sorry for your loss.

My condolances to you and your family. This is indead very sad.
Take care.
Hi Tosca,
Sorry to hear your sad news. My family and I had to make the same, nauseating decision last week to put our beloved 17 year old dog, Cassie, to sleep. I know exactly what you're going through and I'm heartbroken for you guys.. Be sure to give each other lots of cuddles and support today and -although it is extremely difficult right now - do your best to focus on the great, cute, funny times... May Bailey Rest In Peace.
Lots of love,
Kathryn xo
I have two black labs--Jake and Maggie. I love them like my kids. I would absolutely die if I had to put one of them down. My heart goes out to you, and I hope your family can all be together and help each other thru the day.
so sorry...i'm sad for you
Hugs
Josie
Tosca I am so very sorry for your family's loss. My condolences.
I'm so sorry. We have two little dogs ourselves and they are like our own children. My heart goes out to you.
So sorry to hear about your loss, Tosca, I have been through a loss of a life long furry friend as well and it's never easy!!
So sorry to hear about Bailey. Dogs teach us so much, especially to appreciate the simple but most important things in life, loving and being loved. I ache just thinking about losing our dog but so grateful for all she has brought us! Take care Tosca and your family.
Many hugs to your whole family. I've had similar losses and as others have already said, it's the humane thing to do but oh how it hurts! Know you're in many folks' thoughts and prayers, as is Bailey.
So sorry for the loss of your furry family member. It is such a difficult decision to end the suffering of a cherished loved one. My family made the same decision recently with our 17year old pup, Oreo, who had been a sister and companion to me since I was 15. I hope your beautiful memories give you and your family peace as you face the days ahead. Take care,
Michelle
Hi Tosca,
Having had to two of my beloved Goldies to sleep I can well understand your sorrow. Sounds like he was a very loved member of the family. Remember the good times and give lots of cuddles to your other pup.
Libby
Hi, Tosca:
I'm crying while reading your post. I'm going through a similar situation (I know the day is coming when I has to make a decision).
Please receive my condolenses and be strong.
Laura
I'm so sorry for your loss. Bailey looked like he had an amazing life with you and your family.
My thoughts go out to you Tosca and your family. I too have had to put a dog down in the past due to cancer. I know how hard this is. I now have two dogs who welcome me home every day. There are no words for the amount of joy they bring to the home.
Isn't it scary the number of people including you and myself who have posted on here that have lost a dog to cancer? CANCER...I hate that word....we here it every day.
This time we have our dogs on the RAW food diet...also know as the BARF diet (bones and raw food)....there is so much controversy out there and conflicting advice its hard to know if you are doing the best thing for them.
Anyways...my thoughts are with you and your family.
Keep being the Best of the Best.
Tania from Peterborough
sorry poor grammer..I meant to say "hear it every day"
I understand what you are going through having been through it myself. I remember praying every night that the Lord would take my ailing Whiskers so that I would not have to make the decision. But it does get easier, and time will let you know that your decision was one of the greatest gifts you can give a beloved animal. In a world where so many animals starve and have no name, seeing a dog live in love and happiness for 13 years is a pure blessing.
Thinking of you and your family, keep Baileys memories close to your heart and he will never be far, in times of sadness think of all of the wonderful times you have had together :)
I'm so sorry for your family.
Hi Tosca,
Bailey was deeply loved and enjoyed a truly wonderful dogs life with you and your family. Celebrate his memory often during this time of great loss. My heart goes out to you.
Best Regards,
Leanne
Bless you and your family. Remember the wonderful times you spent with your beloved and that you gave him the best life he could ask for.
Hugs,
Shalu
Oh Tosca! I am so sorry for you and your family! I am in tears reading of Bailey - the love and sense of loss can be felt. I have had to do the same with "my children" a couple of times and it is one of the most painful experiences I have in my memories. Cherish and remember the happy memories and the wonderful 13 years...it's all you can do! Love and hugs to everyone in the family..Davidson too!
So sorry Tosca, you gave him a wonderful life! My thoughts are with you and your family!!
Hi Tosca, I would like to offer my condolences to you and your family on your loss of Bailey. I feel particularily sensitive to this as our 10 year old chocolate lab just yesterday underwent surgery in the hopes that we may enjoy his company for a few more years to come. So far so good with his recovery. I think his days of being my running partner are now over but I do look forward to many more long walks.
Condlences to you and your family -God Bless :'(
My heart and thoughts are with you and your family! Dogs are the greatest companions and you'll always have a piece of him with you. We have an 11 year old Sheepdog- I dread the day we have to make a similar decision. Peace
I am sorry for your loss. The hardest thing to do is almost always the right thing to do. My thoughts are with you.
Hugs to all of you! It is so hard to lose the pets we love like children.
It is said when our furry family members leave, us but it is comforting to know that there will be no more suffering. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Tosca, I am so sorry about Bailey. I understand your pain, as I nearly lost my darling Valentine kitty this past July due to a reaction to her standard vaccinations. She developed fluid in her lungs and I was so afraid she wouldn't make it. Luckily she pulled through and is sitting here in my lap as I type, but I know I'll be devastated when her time finally comes. I rescued her off the street 10 years ago when she was quite young and I know I've given her a good, safe, healthy life filled with more love than she can handle sometimes.
You will cry and you will miss seeing him in his usual places in your house and yard, but always remember that you gave Bailey a WONDERFUL AND BLESSED doggy life.
Damn, I'm sitting here crying myself because I feel your loss.
You are in the thoughts and prayers of a lot of people right now. I hope you're able to find some comfort.
Dear Tosca, our thoughts are with you today. As a dog owner myself I can just imagine how incredibly difficult it is for you all.
Bailey looks like a wonderful dog, may he rest now.
Dear Tosca and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. It is so hard to lose a pet that you love so much and was a part of your family.
I love the pictures of him, he looked so sweet. God Bless....
My dogs are my kids, I can't imagine...
DogRunDog.com race to support dog cancer research! I do!
Take Care :)
I'm so sad for your lost-Your Bailey looks just like my Bailey:)
So sorry about Bailey, Tosca. I know what pets mean to our family, and dogs are so special. Praying for your family.
Heidi
I'm so sorry. Bailey is with our Willow now. Hugs to you and your family.
Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss, Tosca.
Tosca - I am very sorry for your loss. I also can relate as I just had to put my beloved fur baby to rest on January 3rd. He was a Boston Terrier that just had turned 8 in Nov. and he got liver disease that just went after him. It's very hard they are like our children for sure. I am trying to just focus on all the happy times, and wonderful years he gave me. RIP fur baby's.
My heart goes out to you and your family, Tosca. My dog is my baby and I can't imagine the pain of Bailey's loss. Love to you and your family during this difficult time.
So sorry to hear about Bailey. Take care! xo
I can understand how your family is feeling. We had to put down our dog of 12 years last year right after Christmas. She also had cancer. We decided to have her cremated and kept her ashes. This way she'll always be with us.
My toughts are with you all during this time. I have a wonderful 4 yr old Havanese that I can't imagine ever losing. Just remember all of the great times you had with him!
Take care!
I'm truly sorry for your loss. It is such a difficult thing to lose a pet. They are always an integral part of any family. I lost my 12 year old yellow lab the week of my wedding this year and it was very difficult. She had cancer and all of her organs shut down. After a very long week of deciding what to do I made the drive to put her to sleep. While I waited in the room for the vet to come in- I lay on the floor with her to say goodbye to my dear friend and she passed away in my arms.
Thank you for sharing the pictures of your lovely pet. My Madison had big "oreo cookie eyes" as well. She will always be dear to my heart and greatly missed.
Dear Tosca-it is a terrible thing to see such a loyal and wonderful companion succumb to a disease that can't be seen. My dog was only 8 years old when he had lymphoma and he fought through it for 15 months. Even though we knew day by day that he was getting worse, it was hard to let go. When he passed away it was by his own acceptance and the loss was devastating. There is no easy way to cope through the grief and the longing that the heart goes through for many many months and years...the best you can do is keep the memory alive even though your pup is happily running after other dogs somewhere on the other side.
My heart is with you and your loved ones. My 10 1/2 year old rabbit had to be put to sleep due to a battle with cancer.
Thanks for sharing your pictures with us. Bailey was beautiful.
I am so sorry for your loss. I had to put my 12 year old rottweiler/shepherd mix to sleep last Thursday, also because of cancer. It is like losing a limb. I try to think of his life as a gift that enriched my own life beyond measure, a treasure that will outlast my sadness. I wish peace to you and your family.
