Grind the Little Buggers First!
Hello Flax Seed Eaters!
You are right - flax seed passes through you whole and is not effective at all unless you grind the little buggers first. I use a coffee grinder reserved only for flaxseed.
If you look to the right of the posts, you will be able to follow along on Twitter where I stated that flax seeds need to be ground first. Keep the meal cold and in an opaque container after grinding. Flax seed oil is volatile and goes rancid quickly!
I would say that if you are 20 pounds overweight there is a good chance that you have at least 5 pounds of @#$% in you that could move on out of there pretty darn quick. You will be amazed.
As for bloating, go easy with flax first - take one teaspoon per day for starts and then work up to more. It can make you gassy but offset this with plenty of water (not bottled! - reduce your carbon footprint). Soon you will be a flax seed loving Sister in Iron and that is not a load of crap!
Good luck and happy @#$% clearing out to all!
Tosca

Yes, flax is associated with a whole host of health benefits due to its high content of fibre and Omega-3 fatty acids.
No, feces are not 'stuck' to our colons. Our bodies are very well-equipped to expel waste products and there is very little digested material remaining in the large intestine. Also important to remember, is that true weight loss results from burning fat. No one has a 'beer belly' due to a lack of bowel movements.
Thanks for "clearing" that up Tosca. I find it just that much more convenient to buy the milled/ground flax seed - too lazy to grind on a daily basis! Also, I keep my ground flax in the fridge.
I've been an "off and on" flaxseed (ground, of course) user for several years now. This is the motivation to not get lazy and make it a habit! It was first recommended as a mix-in with grapefruit juice, for what reason, I no longer recall. I mix it with Stonyfield yogurt now.
I grind enough at a time to last several weeks in the fridge, hope this is OK. I agree with other posters, getting that grinder out every day can be a pain. Like we don't have enough to do already. :)
Mason jars are not "opaque" containers. (??)
