In the Land of the Dutch

I am writing to you today from Amsterdam, Nederlands. It has been a whirlwind week here visiting my family, including my 20-year-old daughter, Kiersten. The camera crews joined us for a couple of days as we toured around Leiden, the city where my daughter is going to school. It's been wonderful to speak Dutch again and walk and bike everywhere. Bob and I have found a place to weight train, but eating clean is difficult over here. Cheese and beer abound in the Dutchland. Hopefully all the walking will make up for it! My mother, Tina, is also accompanying us so we've spent a lot of time visiting her cousins, sisters, and brothers in Delft. It's been a great escape, and one I haven't taken in years. I'll be home on Tuesday to prepare for my next competition. Stay tuned!

Tosca,
I listened to your healthy girl podcast this weekend and you mentioned some great bee pollen that you get. Could you let us know the the brand. I am running low and would love to give it a try.

Thanks
Kate

The publishing firm that I work for is based in Amsterdam so I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Amsterdam as well as Delft. Both cities are lovely and full of art and history.

Tosca,

I went to school in Leiden too, during my last year of grad school. The people and the city are wonderful!! Check out Einstein's pub on Sunday and Monday evenings - if you are there long enough - as they do Thai food that is GREAT. If they still do it. Reservations are recommended. Andrea

Great you have a good time, I,ve only lived in Canada for 6 yrs and am lucky to visit my friends and family in the Netherlands every year.
I know it's hard to eat clean overthere, I'm still working on (eating clean & crossfit) getting some "appeltaart" lbs off!!!

You're an inspiration to me!!

Have a good time.
