Hi Tosca...
My family has video games and one of them is a Wii. The children received it for Christmas last year and they played it all day (and many days since). Not sure if you've seen the activity it takes to play it, but the next day their arms hurt from all the boxing and tennis they played.
The problem with some kids though, is they don't do anything else other than video games. We balance our video fun (which I like too) with taekwondo and bike rides. Everything in moderation, I say.
Keep up the great work. You're an inspiration!

Oops... posted my earlier comment on the wrong blog entry. Lol. Meant to post it on the "Wired" entry.
As far as the survey goes, I just filled it out. I wish that most of the questions had more offerings for answers. For instance, you asked if folks ever eat fast food and the answers were:
Never
1-3 times per week
and so on
I wish there would have been an option of "rarely". I can't say we "never" eat fast food, but we don't eat there once a week either. Once a month we might be in a position where we swing by a fast food place, but it's not very often and we try to make good choices as much as it's possible.
Just wanted to give you some feedback. Hope your book is a success. Obesity in children is at epidemic levels as far as I'm concerned. It's so frightening.

I am currently a senior at the University of Georgia. I am majoring in Health and Physical Education so it's my lifelong profession to educate children on how to become and stay fit and healthy for a lifetime. I think that this book is a great way to reach the home and community. It is through the greater community, school, and family that children learn values and beliefs regarding exercise and nutrition. I would definitely use this book as a resource. Just a few tips: make sure that it is affordable because a lot of obese families and children live lower class lifestyles making eating clean nearly impossible, add cheap but healthy food choices, easy to make recipes for families on the go, single parent families, and lock key kids. I would also add some interactive things so children can learn how to eat clean for a lifetime. These could include how to read labels, how to help mom grocery shop for clean food, and include the importance of exercise!
I can't wait to buy a couple of copies for myself and my family!
Let me know when it hits the shelves!
I am so excited of your idea to come up with a cookbook for kids- I am doing the chicken with beans and veggies on wraps for lunch but they do get a little tired of it at times. We just need ideas that can feed the kids for lunch that will look alot like what the kids eat everywhere else- Like Pizza-nuggetts and other foods that we can make clean but childlike.. I appreciate your blog and books so much you have really changed my life..My sisters are also going to try it out-- I have learned to read labels and be pickier about what goes into my mouth.
Thank you again
Also I really thank you for replying personally to my email- it means alot to know you really care for people on a one on one bases I have taken your advice and I am applying it to my life.
God Bless - Jessie
