Wow!
Hello bloggers one and all,
Wow! That's all I can say to describe the amazing response I had to my competition plans. Thank you all very much. It encourages me to keep going, especially when I am running low on carbs! Phewf. I will be checking in daily from now on to keep you posted on my eating habits and training routine. Here's what I did yesterday:
Eating:
Breakfast:
1 cup black coffee
6 oz. wheat grass in 500ml water
1 Tbsp rice bran oil
4 fish oil tablets
Mid-Morning Meal:
1 cup black coffee
1 cup cooked oatmeal
2 Tbsp ground flaxseed
5 egg whites, 1 yolk
Lunch:
5 oz. lean beef tenderloin
2 glasses water (500 ml each)
1 Tbsp rice bran oil
Chorophyll
1/2 cup blueberries
Mid-Afternoon Meal:
5 oz. orange roughy
1 handful sliced orange pepper raw
Protein shake
1/2 apple
Water
4:15
1/2 cup brown rice - I was WAY too carb depleted and could barely think straight let alone imagine tackling my workout! This is always a learning experience no matter how many times I 've done it.
Dinner:
5 oz. orange roughy
Handful of green beans
1/2 cup brown rice
Water
Bedtime Snack:
4 egg whites
Training:
Cardio: 45 minutes of lengths in the pool
Q & A:
Sande - Hi Tosca....that is so great to hear!!! You are an inspiration to all of us, especially in the older age group! LOL. I have always been interested in competing but to tell you the truth I don't know where to start...other than the clean eating and activity part. How do you find a trainer that believes you can do it? I am currently 50lbs overweight but I know I am destined to compete on day. Thanks for all that you do. Sande
Tosca - Hello Sande. Thanks for your interest. Find a trainer in your area who has either competed before, or has trained competitors. Ask the staff at local gyms, and ask people who have competed before to help you find the right person for you.
Greg - Hi Tosca- as I read your blog and your new book, I am wondering why you use egg whites... I thought fresh, organic eggs were ok now and that cholesterol from food is not a worry anymore - more to do with trans fats and saturated fat.
Thanks - Greg
Tosca - Since I am preparing for competition every little bit counts. I consume 5 egg whites. If I consumed 5 egg yolks I would be getting MORE than a good amount of good cholesterol. You can always have too much of a good thing. I do have 1 yolk.
I am off for an early-morning photo shoot so I will post more later.

I'm new to blogging but I love your daily comments. I'm about to turn 44 and 20 pounds over weight. I'm attempting to get my body back My goal is 125. I was there about 5 years ago so I know I can do it. Thanks for the daily meal sugguestions
Best, AO
Hi Tosca,
First, I have a question, on yesterday’s entry you wrote that you did 30 min HIT, 30 min running on the treadmill. Does that mean you did both, and if so, did you split it? One before lifting and one after? I am trying to figure out how much cardio I should be doing and when.
And, second, you have said before that you like to swim and that yesterday you did 45 min in the pool. Here is a great website that will create personalized pool workouts: http://www.swimplan.com/ I love to swim too, I have been using this website for about a year and found it to be a great resource. It is free! Maybe you or some of your readers will like it too!
Hi Tosca,
I have to say I was so thrilled to hear that you would be competing again. I am not sure why I got excited but I did. Anyway I have been trying to eat more clean lately and have been working out but doing more cardio than anything. I have a lot of weight to lose about 70 lbs more since I have already dropped 20 lbs however a lot of my fat is concentrated throughout my core region both abs/back. Is there anything I can do to start losing a little more fat there?
Hi Tosca
Thanks so much for the reply. I will talk to some trainers at my local gym. I live in the Durham Region, not to far from where you are.
Hi Cheryl
Thanks for the website. Our new rec centre is about to open down the street from me and I can't wait to begin a swim program
Hi Tosca:
You are such an inspiration! I have changed my diet completely since I read your book and I read your blogs faithfully. One question...Are you still taking the bee pollen while you are training for your competition?
Best Wishes on your competition. Thanks for posting your daily workouts and menu- I was hoping that you would. I look forward to checking in daily to learn from you! TO
So excited for you Tosca; I cant wait to watch your profress :)
In response to these comments:
Cheryl - I do 30 minutes of simple running and then 30 minutes of HIITs. One right after the other in the morning. I do weights in the evening. Thank you for the swimming site. I have already put it to good use.
Karen - I am still taking bee pollen each day. I had simply forgotten to write it down and include it in my blog.
Anonymous - Weight loss is all about eating clean and exercising in combination. It's 80% nutrition, though. Clean up your food intake and you will be well on your way!
