Paris Day 5

Bon Jour!

This has been a glorious day. Bob and I visited the Jardins Luxembourg on the advice of one of our blog readers and this was no disappointment. I need a new gardener! The day was glorious and the gardens were unbelievable. We sat on a bench in the midst of this beauty and soaked up what was around us from the sun to the flowers, the sculptures the water and the people.

Next we made our way via the Metro (I am so proud of us for figuring this out) to Notre Dame. I was not prepared for this experience. Once inside the cathedral I could not stop the tears. Even though there were hundreds of tourists around it was still an intensely personal experience. Bob and I have enough respect for history to know what a building like this means in the course of time. Words can not describe the place. Pictures will do it some justice.

After the Notre Dame we found our way to the oldest bistro in Paris called La Reserve de Quasimodo. This was the perfect little intimate restaurant to settle down and let the church experience pervade us. We sipped old French wines, ate home made French onion soup and quiche epinards. Believe me, real men do eat quiche! Bob loved his. We too are falling in love all over again. What a lucky girl I am to have him in my life. We enjoy so much together.

Next we went to Galleries Lafayette where the French do shopping up right. WE just looked around and sighed.

So tired we didn't even want to go out, we purchased bread and cheese, framboises and a bottle of wine and are having a picnic in our room for the night. We want to be fresh for Kelsey's exhibit tomorrow. Can't wait.

Good night and God Bless,
Tosca

Cute blue dress! It looks and sounds like you're having such a fantastic time. It's so sweet that you and Bob are appreciating every minute together.
You make me want to book a trip there tomorrow!

Does Bob ALWAYS stand with his hands in his pockets? lol! I think he has that same pose in every picture I've seen of him. I don't believe he's real, I think it's just a cardboard cut-out of him that you bring around with you! LOL!

Tosca...I'm so thrilled to hear all about your trip. I was also able to spend a romantic trip to Paris with my husband. It was during the heat wave a few years ago and we cooled off in the beautiful Paris fountains. Everyone was jumping in them. I'd love to hear what you think of their wonderful fountains and if you have visited the Eiffel Tower at night? It's spectacular.

It's been over a decade since I've seen Paris (I spent a semester there in college) and one of my classrooms was right across the street from the Luxembourg gardens. It is several stories high, and I could sit on the roof and enjoy a beautiful view of the entire garden.

I can't say my eating was very clean then though. I must have eaten my weight in Nutella Crepes while I was there...

If you enjoyed Notre Dame, you may want to see Sacre Coeur (Montmartre)as well. It's further from the heart of Paris, but it's beautiful.

Also, I wonder if you've considered biking to get around? I know it's gratifying to learn the Metro system, but I heard they have a biking system in place where you can rent and leave them at different places around the city. I wish that had been available when I was there...

Thank you for sharing your special moments... sounds wonderful and dreamy over there! Do you find all the french intimidating or is there a lot of english spoken??
Also, awesome that your recovering so fast and so nicely! It was interesting to read your posts on your experience... I often think about having the surgery or not to... after having and nursing four children, mother nature rewarded me with downsizing to basically AA's.... I am basically a sister in iron, lol, and it would be nice to have some shape there too ;-) Ohhhh, to do or not to do...

Merci de ces superbes photos...I grew up in the suburbs and went to school in Paris (La Sorbonne). It makes me want to go home and croquer un pain au chocolat (not clean...I know! But oh so good!)
